Wow so I just wrote this whole blog about Malaysia and then deleted it, and it’s no where to be found! So let’s do this again, we’re officially out of Malaysia and in Guatemala.
Malaysia was extremely busy and blogging was not my highest priority but to make up for it here is a glimpse into our time there!
Malaysia is a spiritually diverse place. Islam, Buddhism , and Hinduism are the top three religions there. It is spiritually a very heavy country - everyone there is following false gods and there truly is a dark cloud over that place. While there are many religions being followed not everyone is very devout. Meaning that there is a lot of passivity and apathy to truth.
Yea it’s a heartbreaking thing to see so many people following false gods. Never before have I been in a place with so many people thinking they know god when they just dont. I think this is the saddest part of it - these people truly think they know the truth. They think that they are walking in light and yet they could not be further from it. They are praying to idols who cannot hear, cannot speak, cannot see, cannot do anything. They are not alive. Everyday I would wake up hearing the calls to prayer, seeing people put fresh offerings in idol boxes and attending the different temple ceremonies. There was one afternoon we went to eat lunch at a families home, when we arrived they had a massive alter in the center of their home. They were burning Incense and offering platters of food and other items to their dead ancestors and false gods. It was a brutal awakening to the reality of people who are actively worshipping other gods. I stood there shocked and desiring them to come into the truth of the gospel.
My heart is heavy for South East Asia, for the ones walking in so much darkness. These people hearts are hardened to the name of Jesus and to the freedom of the gospel. They hear the gospel and think it’s just another option of faith but don’t understand. It is a heartbreaking thing to know they live their lives striving to earn their way to god. It is sad that these people do not know the radical love of Jesus.
The harsh reality of the lies these people believe both breaks me and leads me to intercession, and I want to invite you to to join me - Pray for Malaysia, these people are worth the gospel.
Jesus blood was shed for them too. Jesus desires the hearts of all of those walking unaware of the truth. Pray for people in Malaysia to be stirred up and question what they believe. Pray that they begin to desire something more. Pray that many Christian’s would begin to rise up from South East Asia. Pray for the church in Malaysia to be hit with a deeper love for Jesus and a zeal that is greater than any apathy. Pray that Jesus would be in to reveal himself in dreams and visions - that the children we taught would began to see the Man in white. Pray that the friendships we began there would remain; and that those we shared the gospel with would be stirred. That these people would desire to know the Jesus that we talked about. Pray that many Christian’s would be burdened to go labor in the gospel in Malaysia.
Jesus is alive and on the throne. He is the one true living God - every other idol has no authority. I’m believing Jesus will continue to reveal himself to the people in Malaysia. That their hearts would be softened and that many will continue to go and proclaim the truth of Jesus as living breathing God in that place!
Malaysia was a hard season on the Race for many many reasons. Through it I have seen the beauty of the grace and power of the Lord resting on the needy. Jesus gave me enough for each day and taught me new depths of himself. He is the true living God and He is the one I look at and find worthy time after time. I have never in my life been more happy to be in the truth of Jesus. Look and See the alive God, look and see Jesus!
