The women in the Red hats –

This last week in ministry two different houses visits stood out to me. One of them was the Women in the Red hats. We went to an area we have not yet been to and approached a house. Two women in red hats came out and sat. This house was very small and there was less than usual on this homestead.

From the moment that we started talking to these women we Holy spirit was SO evident. The two women were radiant of joy. They smiled and laughed and danced, what a gift it was to be in their presence. They two of them talked to us for a long time; we got to hear their hearts and lives and got to speak encouragement into them. But more than what was said and what happened was the way they made me feel. Their simple trust in God even though life was hard encouraged my spirit. These women had much less than those around them, yet they had SO much more. I was challenged leaving as I left pondering is the faith and joy I find in Jesus as sure as theirs is. Oh how talking to these women was a gift. Their smiles were beaming light and with them you just felt the feeling of taking a deep breath then exhaling like ahh this is lovely. They were so excited we had come they were joking with us asking us to return and saying “we just live in the bush, no need to be afraid of what’s in the bush!” Wow yea just thank you Lord for the women in the red hats.

The other home that really stuck out to me had a very different feeling. As we approached you could  sense the heaviness that was there in comparison to the last house. There were many people gathered around working and cutting marijuana. They all sat in a circle working, chatting amounts themselves. As we approached they welcomed us but seemed very stand offish about what we were saying. As we chatted we got to share testimony of what the Lord has done in our lives and how Jesus is so much more than a religion. There is so much to Jesus beyond a Sunday service. While they didn’t really seem to receive anything from what we had to say, the Holy Spirit was so evident in what we were sharing. He connected really flowed through our team and we were just vessels. It was so beautiful to see. As we left this house the verse came to mind that talks about when one house doesn’t receive you brush the dust off your feet and move to the next. This was such an encouragement to my heart. I left that house cubist so encouraged and spurred on to just keep going. The gospel is alive and for today and when hearts are ready to receive it they  will! When their not l, we keep going, we keep planting seeds.

Going to these two houses back to back was definitely intresting seeing the difference in the people. House visits on this day were so unique and really encouraging in different ways!
